Pay-As-You-Go App Development… it’s a thing…we made it a thing… whatcha gonna do about it?

The world of apps is an exciting and enticing one. Companies all over the world are riding comfortably on the app success train but the general consensus is that a larger company with the funds will be able to finance the production of an app but for start-ups, smaller companies and the average Joe/Jane, an app is too costly to produce.

Another worry is that the required functionality does not appear to exist in current apps on the market so paying an agency to develop it will ultimately cost more.

This is not the case.

Throughout my career in agencies and now as Managing Director of PixelBeard (Say Hi) I have experienced the above points in conversation on multiple occasions.

People are amazing, people are creative, people are people… Joe and Jane are more than capable of coming up with the “next big thing” and they do… constantly.

The unknown scares them and ideas get lost… forever!

These are important points that are continuously echoed and an agency simply MUST pay attention to them. We did.

The path from idea to conception has many moving parts but a good agency will remove these as obstacles and provide you with a plan that demonstrates the full path in layman’s terms or as a tech sheet depending on the level of data, the client, wishes to see.

It is important on PAYG plans that the client has a firm understanding of what can be developed within a reasonable timeframe. Setting timelines towards an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) will help greatly with this as the client will clearly see stages where a working build with the minimum functionality is able to be distributed.

Typically, at PixelBeard, the path to development is Scope, UI/UX Research & Design, Develop, Test and Release and these stages are of the highest importance to any of the applications or experiences that we create.

PAYG development will take the same path but the lifecycle may be greater depending on the budget that the client has to develop with on a regular basis.

Scope, UI/UX Research & Design, Develop, Test and Release

We provide a detailed scope and schedule as the first deliverables of a product. These documents will clearly define key stages within a build and will highlight several paths development can take within a PAYG model and otherwise.

This is the most important stage as it defines the “what” and “how” of the entire project and sets the ball rolling. This is where the magic happens.

PixelBeard PAYG options vary on a project-by-project basis and we are always open to discussing a custom option for your project.

There are no extra prices for bespoke functionality and we can often create a fully fledged scope of work based on a simple description making it even easier for your idea to begin coming alive.

You don’t have to be technical, you don’t have to understand code or design, you don’t have to have a fully detailed plan of your idea. That’s our thing, it’s what we do every day.

Pay in stages, pay monthly, pay weekly or pay upfront… it’s all the same to us. Let’s get together and build things. Feel free to pop in and see us to discuss your plan @ Suite 4, Church House, 1 Hanover Street, Liverpool, L1 3DN — or drop us a line at Helloworld@pixelbeard.co
