I’ll admit, I’m a sucker for cool titles.

The Moonshot Factory might as well be called The Adult Curiosity Playground- to say I’m intrigued is an understatement.

If you’re unaware of Google’s explorative venture, often referred to as X Company, it can be described as a mission-driven tech innovation lab. Officially the website states that the mission of X Company is to:

“Build and launch technologies that aim to improve the lives of millions, even billions, of people” — X Company

A post written for the X Company’s blog details some of the criteria that allows a project to meet the standards of a Moonshot Initiative, these are: a problem that effects at least a few million people, a project that involves new (often untested and real-time developed) sci-fi-sounding technology, an audacious goal, and some hope of achievability within 5–10 years. No biggie.

Before diving into some of the unique features and amazing projects to come out of Google X, I think it’s important to understand the goal of X Company.
