Life Is Like A Bar of Soap
a poem
Sometimes life is like a bar
of soap, all hopped up on
hope; smooth and stride,
fresh with zest, slippery against
your chest because yes I must
confess after cleaning up
mess after mess with liquid soap,
I’ve come to this place now
where I realize that life is like
a bar of soap when the trusted
and true turns out to be just that
when the trusted and true bar slides
across my leg and lathers me anew
into bubbles and dribblets into rivulets…
