I
thought
I saw her…

It looked
like
her car
but
it was
someone
else’s

a stranger
behind the wheel
some woman I’d never seen
before

& then
she was gone

I watched her
drive away
slowly

I grieved
the death
of my first marriage
all over again

but
it didn’t hurt
as much
this time

It was a clean break
watching her
leave

pretending
it was her
when it wasn’t

It
was
good
therapy

&

I can’t say
how
or
why

but
I felt
better
afterwards
