We are opening a new chapter in the life of our association!

We are launching the PWI Brussels blog!

The blog will be an easy way for you, our members, and friends to read interesting stories on inspiring women, get the latest news about PWI Brussels and developments of our Mentoring, STEAM, Entrepreneurship and Your Path programmes and get tips on how to achieve your personal and career goals.

As you, our faithful members, know a few years ago we were publishing a quarterly e-magazine on our website full of interviews with inspiring people and stories how you can take your career to the next level. We thank the editors of the magazine who did a great job:the text are full of inspiring stories and tips that will always be valid. In fact, this is actually what I did and I invite you to do too: re-read the great content!

In each magazine, I found precious advice from men (yes, men too!) and women about careers and life in general. And I want to share some of them with you.

Our e-magazine won’t be gone — let’s rediscover some of its great content

In 2011 Sonia Busselen gave us tips on how to minimise stress. Each tip is worth reading but the most insightful for me is to “create a stop-doing list”. To me, a fanatic of lists (to do lists, places I want to visit lists, grocery lists, …), this never occurred!

In 2013 Ana Otero recommended to young people entering the job market to not think so much about their career but to enjoy every project and to focus on taking the best from every experience, even from the hardest.

Do not miss the interview with Jeanine Combé! She talked about emotions and how they should be taken more into consideration and stop to be a tabu in the professional world.

Alessandro Mosumeci raised a still recurring problem: while thanking all the women colleagues and bosses he had, he warned us against the risk of asking ourselves too much, trapped in the vicious circle of constantly having to demonstrate our competencies and give the best.

In a world where work/life balance is the key, Caroline Kersten and Sapna Welsh suggested to opt for a “conscious imbalance”, admitting once for all that sometimes we need to give priority to our job and others to our life.

And again, Jean Luc Luis addressed the issue of unemployment for those over 50+ and the economical and emotional problems they have to face.

Furthermore, we got to know few professions more closely thanks to amazing women: for instance, the storyteller thanks to Lisa Lipkin in 2012, the astrophysisist thanks to Simonetta Di Pippo in 2013, the forensic graphologist thanks to Lidia Fogardo in 2014 and the visual artist thanks to Anna Piratti in 2015.

Why then opening a blog?

Time changes and communication tools as well. The blog will offer you the opportunity to read articles at a time of your convenience as well as to share them with your colleagues or your friends more easily. Finally, you will have the possibility to be a blogger too: members like you are more than welcome to submit their post ideas.

For the faithful readers who preferred our magazine or those who do not have time to visit our blog regularly, do not worry! You can receive all updates once per month by subscribing to our newsletter here. And anyway I am sure we will convince you to become our regular follower with our great content!

See you at the next post.
