Thanks to everyone who submitted a proposal for the PyBay Lightning Talks and for Darlene Wong who curated the program!

Unfortunately, we were not able to accommodate all of the submissions in one evening. But wait, there’s more! We will have a second session of Lightning Talks on Sunday after the main conference talks, so get your proposals ready for another round of submissions during the conference.

Lightning talks are short, 5–10 minute presentations. They are a great way to get familiar with new tips, tricks, and cool tools in a very short amount of time!

On Friday, August 11th, join us at PyBay2017’s opening party at Linkedin’s SF headquarters on 222 2nd Street, San Francisco, CA. Reception starts at 5:30p. It will be a fun and casual evening featuring a static typing panel discussion and the following lightning talks:

1. Deep Learning for Conservation — Alex Shepard

2. Effective retry techniques for working with 3rd party APIs — Fabio Fleitas

3. How not to fall into a rabbit hole when debugging mysterious bugs in a large-ish open source library — Jouella Fabe

4. Taking the __magic__ out of Python classes — Henry Chen

5. Predict your project timeline — Generating Agile SW metrics with Python — Meenal Pant

6. Lost Federal Technical Reports — Robert L Bolin

7. Growing an Open Source Community from 1 to 300 — Rishi Gupta

8. Magic Wormhole — Brian Warner
