New Focuscape prototype, “Tumble”
Around around we go…
A note about this from our Director of Music and Sound Design Ethan:
“This piece immersively accesses the joy and adventure of a partly controlled, partly free, tumble. Set in a bed of binaural beats, two saxophones lay a thematic foundation with lilting, paralleling lines, while an electric guitar lick shifts and interacts with its reversed counterpart. A metronome performed though filters and delays provides a sculpted pulsing rhythm. An organ’s chordal gestures suggest a broader, shimmering form. A tongue drum, performed through guitar pedals, adds rhythmic and synaptic texture. An electric bass guitar punches in, like landing on one’s feet after a roll. Ambient synthesizers add warmth and space along with a synth basses low sways. In the High Intensity version, acoustic percussion summarizes the musical tumbling with loose beats and shifted phrasing.”
Note: both low and high intensity versions of this focuscape are sampled in this video.
