A Letter for the New Year
“The world is indeed full of peril and in it there are many dark places. But still there is much that is fair. And though in all lands, love is now mingled with grief, it still grows, perhaps, the greater.”
We wanted to carve out a moment at the beginning of this new year, this hopeful year to share our hearts with you.
This year has been hard.
We have watched and endured right alongside your tribulations. At times, we have wished we could simply escape somewhere special and safe, and to take you with us. We wish you hadn’t needed to experience all you did this past year. Over time, each of you has become extended members of our little family. We’re spread throughout the world. We come from different backgrounds and creeds. But we came together for the love of books, of creating something magical, and the chance to leave our mark in some small way.
Our hopes for 2021 vary. There’s always the fear of putting too much hope for good news, only to be disappointed. And because we don’t wish to give you false hopes, we’re making it our mission to spread as much goodness and encouragement into the world as we may.
Instead of focusing on what we hope for ourselves, our resolution is to do all we can to inspire you. What is it you plan to do, change, or create? What steps will you take to make that dream happen?
Remember, just because your dreams seem unattainable, doesn’t mean they aren’t achievable. It’s never too late to start over, to turn a new page, or learn a new skill. There’s no harm in dreaming big dreams, so long as we begin small. You can’t build a house out of one brick, and whether big or small, your goals will take work.
The good news?
You are not alone.
We’ll be right here with you to help as much as we can. And if it’s something we can’t help with, we’ll still be here to encourage you. Don’t be afraid to reach out to people for help.
Our dream for 2021 is to inspire you, to lift you up when you’re down, and to bring some extra light into the world.
We believe in you.
