Today, not only able to manage house cores, beyond that, women have helped rule the world and the world of careers. In the world’s major companies, women are considered quite dominant and have an amazing performance.

A recent study from Scientific Reports shows that women are considered to be stronger, smarter, competent, and emotionally stable than men. Therefore, companies that have more female employees get higher financial returns and productivity.

Having more women in leadership roles in major corporations is associated with positive company stock performance, according to new research from Goldman Sachs in 2020.

Qasir, a point of sale application, realized that fact. Therefore, in percentage until September 2021, almost 50% of all Qasir employees (42,25%) are female employees.

Not just regular staff, those women occupied important positions in the company, such as Product Designer Lead, Data Lead, Growth Lead, Head of Finance Ops, Head of People, Organic Marketing Lead, Customer Happiness Lead, Customer Success Manager Lead, and Promotion Lead.

Women Leaders at Qasir

Unfortunately, although the reality and research show that the presence of women in the workplace is quite beneficial, this does not necessarily make it easier for women. There are still many challenges that need to be faced as a career woman at work.

Especially in tech industry, gender equality remains a major issue in the corporate world. For example, women are all too often offered lower salaries and not just in the tech industries.

A study about the gender pay gap by Mercer found that in all industries, men are 18% higher paid than women, but when it comes to high-tech fields, then that figure rises with men earning 25% more than their female counterparts.

With more women entering the field and moving up in leadership roles, they can be instrumental in creating a more transparent environment with equal pay.

Why Do We Need More Women in Tech?

Well, information technology is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world, including Indonesia. Technical also play a crucial role in almost every sector of our country. Women’s underrepresentation in tech industry is not a new topic. Even though progress has been made, it is still considered moving slowly.

Here are reasons why we need more women in tech, quoted from Forbes:

1. Diversity Generates More Revenue

Companies that not only hire but also manage to retain more women put themselves in a position to automatically gain a competitive advantage, a benefit that extends to all stakeholders.

2. Women Think Differently

Men and women see things differently and bring unique ideas to the table. This enables better problem solving, which can boost performance at the business unit level.

3. We Need More Role Models

Role model

By bringing female tech leaders, it will hopefully encourage more girls to pursue their interests and careers in tech, which will increase the hiring diversity. We need to ensure young girls have strong role models of other successful women in tech industry.

Yes, diversity and inclusion cannot be part of a one-time campaign, it needs continuous work to be developed, maintained, and cultivated.

But, Qasir has taken some steps to improve those situations. Especially now, due to the pandemic, when most employees have to work from home (WFH).

Qasir also provides convenience to female employees. By working remotely, they will have flexible working hours. That way, they will be more able to manage their time between their personal life at home either as a mom, daughter, wife, or employee.

Hopefully, more great women will join the tech fields so there will be more diversity to strengthen the tech industries and make better innovation for society.
