The representation and the rights of LGBTQIA+ identified labourers and workforce is invisibilised in India. We currently do not have any national or state level policies that specifically protect LGBTQIA+ persons from workplace harassment and exploitation. While we have many narratives of discrimination at places of work, there is a lack of unified effort to seek recourse these instances.

As LGBTQIA+ persons who are pushing for change at various fronts, we expect our labour movements and unions in our country to acknowledge the existence of queer persons at every level of the society and the workforce. We envision an LGBTQIA+ inclusive employment and labour law that would empower and protect LGBTQIA+ persons in our respective places of work.
