How to Predict the Future with ML

Speaker: Islambek Temirbek, Data Analyst at QIC digital hub

As part of our work on optimizing and forecasting policy renewals for 2024 in Qatar, our team implemented an advanced machine learning time series model (ML). This model allows us to predict renewal rates with greater accuracy by incorporating unique regressors that reflect specific local and temporal factors. Taking into account cultural and contextual variables, our model not only accurately forecasts policy renewals but also provides strategic insights to increase customer engagement and improve business outcomes.

In this meetup, I will discuss how we have implemented ML, forecast policy renewals, and draw strategic conclusions based on the model.

Expertise:
I work as a Data Analyst on the qd Drive app/Mandatory & Travel project, with 5 years of data expertise.

I have had the opportunity to work with some great companies:

- Kolesa Group (Zillow equivalent in Kazakhstan)
- BI Group — Kazakhstan’s construction holding (a construction company with a revenue of $1.4 billion)

Additionally, I have worked as a data science teacher at outpeer.kz, actively contributing to the development of the data community and knowledge exchange in Kazakhstan and QIC.

The Essential Role of Feature Toggles in Production Processes

Speaker: Maxim Krainov, QA Engineer at QIC digital hub

For the past 4 years, I have been working on projects that utilize feature toggles, and I believe that it is an excellent tool that not only helps large companies but also significantly improves work in small fast-growing projects.

In my presentation, I will share my experience of using feature toggles and the benefits they bring at all stages of production. We will also discuss what aspects need to be considered when using feature toggles in a project.

Expertise:
I hold the position of QA in the qd Drive project, with over 6 years of QA experience. I have experience working as a release manager and Head of QA in a project with parallel development involving more than 10 teams.

Evolution of Development Practices at Bereke Bank

At this meetup, I will share my experience in stabilizing and establishing development practices at Bereke Bank: how development returned to a single stream, the role played by competence centers, and how staff turnover affected the process.

Expertise:
Over the last 5 years, I have progressed from automating HR processes to FinTech. I have worked with companies in Kazakhstan and the USA. Formerly a frontend developer, I found peace and tranquility in backend and Go. Currently, I am enhancing development practices at Bereke Bank.
