Sudo Review: Understand thousands of reviews in seconds

We know reading and analyzing reviews are one of the biggest time-consuming activities in shopping. It is not unusual to hear stories such as someone (i.e. me) spending more than 5 hours to purchase a $20 bean bag, just because there are so many options on Amazon.
And we only realized how big the problem is after we look into the numbers. Here are a few interesting statistics:
- each day about 43% people spend time on shopping (according to BLS)
- of these days, people spend 100 minutes on average on shopping
- 90% of online shoppers and 80% in-store shoppers rely on opinions from other people (as in, other customers, instead of experts).
Qokka (qokka.ai) was founded with a simple idea: helping people understand mass opinions in real time. E-commerce was one of the first applications we experimented with.
So we created Sudo Review, a set of APIs built on top of Qokka’s Opinion Engine, to enable businesses and developers to create software that benefits from understanding mass opinions. To give a few examples: brand analysis, trend prediction, review monitoring, shopping assistance, and more.
To give shoppers, developers, and e-commerce businesses some concrete examples, we launched “Best of Amazon” website at https://beta.sudoreview.com. This web application is tightly integrated with Sudo Review APIs. Here is what it offers to online shoppers:
- More than 200000 best sellers on Amazon over 200+ categories
- Quick “Sudo Review” (summary) for every product, that summarizes what people like and dislike, with a few key words.
- Up to 10% cash back (for users who logged in, and finalized the purchase on Amazon)
Behind the scene, Qokka’s Opinion Engine reads through thousands of reviews of every product, and uses custom-built natural language understanding algorithms and machine learning models to understand them in real-time, and use the patterns within the language itself to present the results.
We also created a Chrome extension which automatically inserts the summary on Amazon product page. You can get it from Chrome extension store.
We are beta testing the website (and the APIs). Beta users of the website will get extra perks such as additional cash back.
