Where to find good, cheap sushi in London
Love sushi but find the prices unreasonably punishing? I hear you! 🍣
I’m regularly offended on behalf of all London consumers by some of the mediocre sushi out there at unwarranted prices. When I find a place selling good sushi at bargain prices in London I hold on tight and never let go!
Here are three places where you can get your hands on tasty takeaway sushi that is high quality and affordable:
- Natural Natural

Natural Natural Ealing Common — 20 Uxbridge Rd, London W5 3LH
I used to live near Finchley Road and frequented this little Japanese grocery store multiple times a week. They stock tons of Japanese products — prices are not necessarily the cheapest when it comes to the Japanese cooking staples but the selection is pretty damn good considering the place is tiny.
On to the important stuff — Natural Natural has a little deli where you can pick up fresh and tasty sushi (£3–4 for four pieces), bento boxes (approx £5–6) and rice bowls (approx £5–6). They also make a variety of onigiri (Japanese rice balls) if you fancy a quick and healthy snack for around £1.
Hot tip, if you drop by closing time, the deli products are often discounted.
2. Japan Centre Food Hall and Book Shop
Soho — 19 Shaftesbury Ave, Soho, London W1D 7ED
I kind of lost my shit the first time I went into Japan Centre a) I couldn’t believe I only found out about this Japanese food lover’s paradise after five years of living in London and b) their amazing fresh food selection, including sushi, at great prices. Pick up some sashimi for £3.50 or one of their many rolls (4 very generous pieces for approx £5).
Japan Centre also discounts their food close to closing time — be a class act and drop by around 8pm on weekdays for 50% off their sushi leftover from the day.
3. Umai Westfield
Stratford — 2, Westfield Stratford City, Montfichet Rd, London E20 1GL
Same owners as Japan Centre Soho, same deal. Hit this place up if you err towards East London and you’d sooner eat Itsu than make a trip to Piccadilly Circus.
