Airbnb and WeWork Partner Up

Business traveller can now book work space through Airbnb.

  • Airbnb and WeWork will provide travellers with amenities commonly found in hotel business centers, such as a work desk, Wi-Fi, printers and meeting rooms
  • The companies will start with six cities: Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Washington, London and Sydney
  • When renting a room on Airbnb’s site, corporate customers will be able to save a spot at a WeWork office nearest to where they’re staying

Uber Proceeds with Softbank Deal

Uber’s making room on its board for Softbank, further reducing former CEO Travis Kalanick’s power.

  • Uber is moving forward with a large investment deal from Softbank of $1 to $1.25 billion at a valuation of $70 billion
  • The 11-person board unanimously voted to move forward with the deal and would expand the board to 17 people
  • The move will drastically reduce Travis Kalanick’s influence, as well as early investors

Sonos Partners with Amazon to Launch Alexa-Controlled Wireless Speakers

Soon Sonos users can control their speakers with their voices

  • Today, Alexa on Sonos will be available as a beta software update in the US, UK and Germany
  • The move to make Alexa the first official voice assistant to be available on Sonos was announced a year ago
  • Voice control will also work with Alexa-compatible devices including the Echo and the Dot
