Our mantra for the week has come from the Honey Badger himself, Daniel Ricciardo. For those who aren’t F1 fans, Daniel is renown in motorsport for his superb wheel-to-wheel racing capabilities and his overwhelmingly positive attitude (he also celebrates his podium finishes by drinking champagne out of his shoe, known as a ‘shoey’ — classic Aussie).

Success in F1 relies heavily on the car. Hence why an entire team of people work tirelessly to make up the gap to any of their rivals. But when you’re on a level playing field, it comes down to the individual driver. Given the opportunity, ol’ Dani will exploit every gap, push for every 1,000th of a second, and utilise every inch to be the man crossing the finish line first.

For many seasons, Red Bull, like every other team, have not been able to produce a car capable of taking on Team Mercedes. With this knowledge, every driver still gets in the car with the same mentality. Daniel in particular has always been good at identifying the positives and learning lessons every single race. So, when the opportunity the presents itself to lead a race, there is no doubt or second thought — he is ready to overtake that last car and claim first place.

As a team, we work incredibly hard to be the best we can be. Some days it’s enough, other days it is not and we learn something new. What we must always hold onto mentality to win. As individuals, we have the potential to be the best we can be every day. Seize that opportunity. Get in that racing seat everyday and drive forwards as hard as you can. It’s the only way you can win. And you will win. And then, you too, can drink champagne from your footwear.
