The first half of 2019 has been a busy and productive period of growth for Quadrant. The second half is likely to be just as busy with a flurry of announcements in the pipeline and more exciting developments on the near-term horizon. Look out for the first of those coming later this month.

Now, though, let’s take a look back at some of the highlights from our first half of the year:

Introduction of Service Credits

We introduced Service Credits, a path-breaking initiative allowing customers to purchase QUAD tokens — known as Service Credits — directly from Quadrant at a rate of 1 QUAD = 1 USD. This is an important step as it allows anyone to use Quadrant without the need to transact on third-party exchanges to obtain tokens. This first-in-the-industry innovation makes Quadrant’s user experience smoother and more seamless than ever.

We made the decision to introduce this program because many of Quadrant’s enterprise customers have strict security and reporting requirements that make it difficult for them to transact on crypto exchanges. The Service Credits program also makes the experience of using the Quadrant platform more seamless for users.

The Quadrant team grows!

Quadrant’s growing team

In January, Quadrant welcomed Senior Sales Consultant Tim Solt as well as three data scientists: JingYi Li, Wei Soon, and Qi Xuan Ang. These four additions to our team, through their various skillsets and roles, are a part of our 2019 growth aimed at building an ever-stronger platform and bringing products and solutions to enterprise customers in Asia and globally.

In May, we were delighted to welcome two new data engineers to the Quadrant family — Sam Darmali and Aishwarya Bose. They will help our data engineering team to ensure that we deliver what our clients require. Both Sam and Aishwarya are eager young engineers, ready to jump in with both feet and contribute to solving some of the biggest data challenges in the industry today.

New AI tools

In March, we launched a set of new AI tools to help our customers better use location data to target the audiences they need to reach. Our AI algos and models are part of a new microservices layer designed for location intelligence organisations to find specific audiences with greater ease.

These algos and models work on the raw location datafeeds and provide actionable intelligence and information from specified location areas. This helps data professionals target a range of audiences — from football fans around a stadium to tourists near an attraction to diners who frequently visit a restaurant chain.

Organizations can take advantage of the models to find shoppers who frequently visit a mall, potential drinkers in the vicinity of a bar, or tourists likely to have been through a specific airport. The Point-of-Interest model can also be used by urban planners to understand travellers’ habits and see how long it takes them to pass from one point to another or to identify their preferred routes.

Launch of Data Quality Dashboard

In May, we released the all-new Data Quality Dashboard tool, which lets users quickly assess the quality and suitability of a given location data feed for their business use case. The dashboard contains a suite a quality metrics that provide a quick overview prior to running full evaluation analysis. This includes a world map view of monthly and daily active users, a data completeness matrix based on Quadrant’s internal completeness scoring system, and quality distribution charts.

Community events

To explore the power and promise of location data, in January the Quadrant team hosted its first meetup of 2019 with the presentation “Better Data, Better Tomorrow” at its headquarters in Singapore. Meanwhile, location data was the theme of Quadrant’s February event: “Better Data, Better Decisions, Better Outcomes — Make the right Decisions with the Right Data.”

In March, Senior Data Consultant Glenn Harrison led our monthly meetup in Singapore that focused on mobile location data for out-of-home advertising. Quadrant hosted its April monthly community event focused on luxury travel, studying the patterns exhibited by affluent travellers with mobile location data to uncover insights into their behaviour and preferences.

Quadrant with students from Real Skills Education Australia

In May, Quadrant was pleased to collaborate with Real Skills Education Australia to hold a data science workshop for students from leading Australian education institutions. The May edition of our monthly community meetup was on the theme of advertising.

Industry participation and recognition

In March, CEO Mike Davie outlined how companies can work with Quadrant at the Decentralize IoT Asia conference. On International Women’s Day our Director of Engineering, Barkha Jasani urged women forging careers in tech to keep hold of their dreams and embrace challenges in a discussion group with other women in leading tech roles in Singapore.

Barkha also represented Quadrant at developer conference Voxxed Days Singapore, where she gave a presentation on the state of blockchain in the data economy. Finally, we’re proud of Barkha for being recognised at the prestigious Women in IT Awards Asia 2019.

Onwards and upwards…

As we enter the second half of 2019, Quadrant continues to scale new heights and roll out new products and services committed to delighting our customers and helping the industry with one of its major outstanding pain points: providing and curating authenticated datafeeds that are fit for purpose.

That’s it for our H1 2019. Let us know if you have any comments or feedback — you can get in touch with us here if you’d like to learn more about anything we’ve discussed or schedule a meeting with our data consultants best placed to advise you on your needs.
