From rich-text-editing to third-party integrations.

After our last big update in February, we started brainstorming once again on ways we can make our platform more shareable and more integrated into existing communities. With this in mind, we sought to build integrations into other communications platforms and to allow for rich text editing on our web platform.

Integrations

Integrating into other platforms will allow Quae to be more easily adopted by other groups/communities/organizations in very few steps.

Discord

Discord was an obvious choice for us to integrate our application. With Discord’s Bot API, we were able to design and create a bot that can be added to a server and configured by the administrators to bring Quae Polls to their platform.

In order to use the bot, admins must create a Quae Community on our web application and use the Discord API key that we provide to connect their Quae to their Discord. Once connected, members can post polls using our platform and members of the server will be sent previews with links in the configured text channel.

Slack

Slack is another huge communication service that also contains Bot API documentation. Groups that use Slack can add the Quae Bot and configure it to bring Quae Polls to their organization.

In order to use the bot, admins must create a Quae Community on our web application and use the Slack API key that we provide to connect their Quae to their Slack. Once connected, members can post polls using our platform and members of the Slack will be sent previews with links in the configured text channel.

Goals

We’re hoping that these two integrations will open Quae up to new opportunities with groups and communities that already have rich Slacks and Discord Servers that are in need of a voting solution. If you’re interested in using this service, send us your thoughts at: info@quae.app.

Proposals

From the beginning, we wanted Quae to be a platform where members can create detailed proposals for plans they want to be enacted in their community.

The Old

Our shorter proposals in the past did not execute our vision to its fullest potential. Instead of members writing the lengthy proposals we had hoped for, the posts were being reduced to quick, short polls for the larger community.

Keep in mind, we were providing something useful. Members did enjoy being able to post short issues, concerns, and solutions to their community, but something was definitely still missing.

The New

Rich-text-editing was our number one priority going into this. We wanted to give members the opportunity to give more meaning to their text with an italic, bold, or underlined font. Information could also be delivered differently through bulleted lists, tables, or more excitingly: embedded polls.

With proposals, members can embed multiple Quae Polls throughout the document. Not only will these polls be visible on their proposal, but they’ll also be pushed to the group’s corresponding feed. This will allow members to gain valuable data from the entire group without having to have members read through their proposal at first. Then as time goes on, they will have data be presentable retroactive to the time the proposal was posted.

Not only do we allow for many tools to be used during content creation, but we also allow for these proposals to be saved for later, so that you can work on it over a longer period of time and feel comfortable publishing it when ready.

Documentation

Since the Quae platform is getting more complex with the introduction of many new features, we’ve decided to begin our official documentation which is available at docs.quae.app.

This documentation will allow us to go much more in-depth when explaining features and will hold all information in one site.

What’s Next?

We’re continuing to reach out to many communities and organizations that need new voting solutions. Here at Quae, we’re bringing democracy into the 21st century.

If you know any organization that could use the software that Quae offers please send us a note at: info@quae.app

We’d love to hear from you.
