As the USL PDL season approaches, the Burlingame Dragons have started to rebuild their roster after a successful first season. The Dragons won the Southwest Division, and also made a deep run in the PDL playoffs.

As their first signing, the Dragons have added United States U-20, San Jose Earthquakes Academy product, and Georgetown standout JT Marcinkowski at goalkeeper. Marcinkowski had a fantastic first year at Georgetown as a freshman, posing 9 shutouts and leading the team to a 16–2–3 record. “J.T. is a class act and a great representation of what the Earthquakes Academy and BDFC is all about,” Head Coach Eric Bucchere said of the new signing. “After an impressive first season at Georgetown, I’m looking forward to seeing his continued growth this summer.”

In addition to Marcinkowski, the Dragons also resigned USF Dons defender Josh Smith. Smith was the teams first captain ever in 2015, and helped the team to a 0.76 goals against average and a total of 8 clean sheets. Smith has represented the United States at the U-17 level, and also spent time playing in the Bundesliga, playing for the Karlsruher FC academy. Smith is coming off a knee injury that he sustained during the season with USF, and is looking to hit the ground running with the Dragons this spring.

These are the first of several signings for the Dragons, and it seems that they will only be building upon the success that they had last year if they continue with these types of moves.
