Ecological impact of waste-heat recovery

Industrial waste heat is also a kind of renewable energy. The world-wide potential is not known yet. QualiCal provides an eco-friendly, cost-efficient and highly scalable, modular thermal energy recovery system. A cornerstone for the transition to renewable energy.

Recycling energy and storing energy also means climate protection. If it is possible to use energy generated once several times, primary energy sources can be saved and CO₂ emissions avoided. If, for example, high-temperature waste heat is stored instead of being blown into the atmosphere and made available to a process from the storage tank in a uniform manner, the CO₂ savings potential is immense.

Heat recovery

In the spirit of #neverstopINNOVATING vision, QualiCal developed Cal.DO a modular waste heat recovery system for lime kiln and quicklime hydration plant. The system will allow the use of the waste heat potential of the lime kiln and hydration plant for heat generation and water recovery. To facilitate this, an heat exchanger is installed within the QualiCal Cal.DO dedicated QualiCUBE module, in the pipeline downstream of the plant .

The CO2-free heat and water generated is then fed into the factory’s heating system and/or used for infrastructure and homes in nearby municipalities.

“Efforts to achieve sustainable lime production experience by 2030 continue at full speed, and this project to install a waste heat recovery system is the latest significant milestone in our journey. It further demonstrates the value of forming QualiPOOL expert alliances to investigate and then implement innovative technologies that will ensure to build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and drive innovation.”
