QualiLAB brings together a global network of QualiPOOL partners’ laboratories and is designed and supervised by QualiCal’s Corporate R&D department.
Our laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and accessories that allow testing for a wide variety of materials: limestone, lime and fuels.
The equipment for experimental purposes guarantees a faithful simulation of industrial processes. Test procedures follow the logic of real applications under original operating conditions.

Limestone & Lime
QTM-36 Burning Attitude
This internal Standard test is to determine the attitude of the stone to release CO2 by different temperatures, and to evaluate the behaviour of the material under heating. It allows to predict if a particular type of stone is suitable to be calcined in a PFR shaft kiln , or not.
QTM-32b Decrepitation Test
This internal standard test measures the decrepitation index of lime sample by means a sewing test to predict the behaviour of the stone inside a lime kiln. It allows to predict if a particular type of stone is suitable to be calcined in a PFR shaft kiln , or not.
QTM-37 Shatter Test
This internal standard test is a simple reproducible method in order to determine the mechanic suitability of lime‐/dolomite stone used in PFR shaft kilns.
QTM-24 or QTM25 Quicklime Reactivity Test
These tests, according to the Standard DIN 1060-T3 and/or ASTM C110–11, determine the characteristics of a quicklime to react with water by means a time/temperature curve.
Specific surface area is the surface area per unit mass, expressed in m2/g of granular solids, powders or porous materials. It is measured for the purpose of having a deeper understanding of the material to be characterized. In fact, from the size of the specific surface area of powders, one can have a useful indication regarding the degree of reactivity it will have in the various processes to which it will be subjected. The specific surface area B.E.T. of calcium hydroxide Ca(OH)2 is a key parameter, which is required to estimate the adsorption/purification capacity of gases/fumes
The small-scale pilot hydrator is capable performing very effective raw material tests on industrial sites also.
Test are performed to determine the suitability within a new industrial hydrated lime production plant. The test results are used to design and supply the industrial-scale hydration plant that will be best suited to the customer’s process conditions and objectives.
Fuel and Bio-mass
Facing global climate change and scarce petroleum supplies, the world must switch to sustainable energy systems. For one-third of all emissions that originate from energy production, the lime industry can apply usual abatement measures like fuel switch and energy efficiency. One option to reduce emissions from energy production is the switch to fuels with reduced carbon intensity, such as biomass.
