QualiCal for a Sustainable development

Innovative sustainable technologies are essential for upgrading industries and infrastructure to meet future challenges.

A functioning and resilient infrastructure is the foundation of every successful Company. To meet future challenges, our industries and infrastructure must be upgraded. For this, we need to promote innovative sustainable technologies

Since 1998, QualiCal has been dedicated to improving its QualHYDRO hydration plant modules, driven by the #NEVERSTOPINNOVATING R&D corporate vision. The goal is to optimize the hydration process efficiency, producing a wider spectrum of hydrated lime products.

Traditional Hydration plant

Traditional slaking plants faced the following issues when using highly reactive quicklime from PFR kilns (t60 from 18 to 30 seconds):

  • Up to 60%-75% oversize particles (residue at 0.090 mm) in the unrefined slaked lime.
  • Plant output reduced by up to 50%.
  • Plant output rate limited to approximately 2.5 tons per hour.
  • High power consumption of 25 kWh/ton.

SPYDRO-RTC features

QualiCal vision is to upgrade lime infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource-use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes.

To overcome the limitations of existing technologies, QualiCal developed the SPYDRO-RTCยฎ technology since 1998. This innovative system is designed to increase resource-use efficiency and support clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes.

  • High-speed pre-mixing reactor: Equipped with V-shape and T-shape blades, offering better performance than traditional blades.
  • Two seasoning stages: Combined with RTCยฎ (reaction temperature control) features, optimizing the hydration process in terms of fineness and wide surface area spectrum.
  • Patented dedusting filter: Reduces emissions to the atmosphere within state-of-the-art environmental limits.

Results

Since 1998, SPYDRO-RTCยฎ has been in operation at KFN-Swiss, achieving the following results:

  • Reduced oversize particles in unrefined slaked lime to less than 45% (residue on a 0.090 mm screen) when slaking highly reactive quicklime.
  • Decreased power consumption to less than 15 kWh/ton.

Further improvements and upgrades

Water recover with QualiCUBE โ€” AQUA module

  • Water recovery with QualiCUBE-AQUA module: Optimizes water usage and recovery during the hydration process.
  • Heat waste recovery with QualiCUBE-Cal.DO module: Aligns with SDGC by upgrading the hydration plant for heat waste recovery.

Conclusion

QualiCalโ€™s innovative SPYDRO-RTCยฎ technology optimizes the lime hydration process, delivering improved efficiency and environmental performance. By adopting these advanced technologies, industries can upgrade their lime production processes and contribute to a more sustainable future.
