The cost of Poor Software Quality can take lives.

Here is an example of a long-running British post office scandal that is admitted as a software quality problem by the provider and pledge for compensation efforts now in 2024.

Long story short

Faulty Horizon IT system’s bugs falsely blamed British post office workers for missing funds, leaving lives shattered. Hundreds were wrongly accused, jailed, and even driven to suicide, due to a serious mistake made in legal proceedings. Due to public outcry, the government has taken action, which has resulted in Fujitsu pledging to join compensation efforts. Fujitsu admits “moral obligation” to compensate victims of UK Post Office scandal caused by its software glitches.
