The long-standing international partnership between the New Zealand Organisation for Quality (NZOQ) and the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) has been recognised during a presentation in London.

The Chartered Quality Institute welcomed NZOQ’s Tony Stephenson to its Furnival Street office in London on Tuesday, 2 May 2017. Following a meeting with the CQI Executive Director of Policy Estelle Clark, Tony presented a glass trophy to the CQI in recognition of their significant support in establishing NZOQ in 1977.

Speaking to a packed room of CQI staff, Tony detailed the historic relationship between the two organisations, explaining how the CQI has helped NZOQ become the leading provider of quality and excellence in New Zealand.

Established in 1919 and based in the UK, the CQI is a a global professional body encompassing the whole quality community, including quality management professionals and management systems auditors, through the IRCA (International Register of Certificated Auditors).

Estelle Clark said, “The CQI was delighted to host the visit from our friend, Tony Stephenson, CQP FCQI, and to receive his beautiful and generous gift.”

“Many people at the CQI were unware of the role that our organisation played in the foundation of the New Zealand Organisation for Quality in 1977, so it was good to hear this story. Congratulations to the team at NZOQ and to all their members on the occasion of their 40th birthday.”

A version of this story first appeared on the Chartered Quality Institute website.
