The 18’s and the Thanks

It’s this special time of the year when the sadness of the fall — with daylight dwindling and skies painted in battleship grey— is being transformed into the light and joy of the Thanksgiving & Christmas season, by some inexplicable magic. Mother nature herself has got this covered for us: first we are given some pensive time to reflect on our blessings, and as we do… we then celebrate them!

This week I’m celebrating a particularly special time in my life, too. My birthday is on November 18, and… I’m thrilled at how unique the digits of 2018 are. It’s — probably:) — once in a lifetime that you get your birthday looking as cool as this: 18.11.18 ! And, those 18’s have become even more abundant as earlier today I learned that Quandoo is supposed to reach as many as 18,000 merchants this November! I’ve been looking forward to this November hands-on meeting with an excitement of a 3-year old waiting to hear a “once upon a time“ story, believe it or not, and this is because… I’m so glad to partake in the energy of the company that has made its mission to connect people and places over something that people enjoy doing always: having a good meal at a nice place!

The simple joys of life keep us happy and connected, and the seasonal abundance of culinary feasts calls out for thankfulness from the depth of our hearts. I believe we are making this world a better place by being thankful and connected with each other in the spirit of joyful and fulfilling experiences, and this would be our ladder to the sky, a stairway to heaven, if you will.

And, looking from the upper end of the ladder back into basics and humble beginnings, I’m thankful to Quandoo, to the folks who have built the foundation for this particular foodie branch of heaven on Earth. They speak and write a lot these days on how technology can be detrimental to the well-being of humankind, citing all kinds of tech-related fallacies and mishaps. Some companies, who used to be “cool”, have become “less cool”, not only in the eyes of the world, but in the eyes of their employees, too. Thankfully — yes, thankfully, again :) — helping people find places to eat is not going to become an offense against humanity, not as long as we live :). While the tech giants have rolled their sleeves in an effort to bleach their reputation, Quandoo is privileged to be quietly focused on the work.

And, on my own part, I’m thankful and honored to be a part of the vibrant international team of Quandoorians! My hearty, special 18.11.18 “thank you” goes out to you, folks :)
