MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor Emerges As A Leading Bitcoin Prophet

On Aug. 11, MicroStrategy announced that it had made bitcoin its primary treasury reserve asset and purchased $250 million of bitcoin to hold in its treasury, instead of cash.

On Sept. 14, MicroStrategy completed the purchase of another $175 million worth of bitcoin.

Since then, Microstrategy CEO Michael Saylor has been on a crusade to tell the world about Bitcoin, quickly emerging as a leading voice in the Bitcoin ecosystem. In fact, I used the term Bitcoin prophet, and I meant it.

One definition of the term “prophet” found on Lexico.com is:

A prophet is a person who advocates or speaks in a visionary way about a new belief, cause, or theory.

It’s impossible to know the impact Saylor has had two months in to his crusade, but it’s clearly not a coincidence that bitcoin is up over 50% during that time. And it truly is a crusade, which can be defined as:

A crusade is a vigorous campaign for social, political, or religious change.
