Who says power can’t be beautiful? The IBM Q System One

Quantum London’s highest attendance to date met up on line on Wednesday 11 November to hear from IBM’s Professor Andy Stanford-Clark on the perfectly titled “Quantum Computing: A Guide for the Perplexed”.

Andy has a fantastic range of titles. As well as the impressive but prosaic “CTO, IBM UK & Ireland”, he is also IBM UK Quantum Leader, Master Inventor and, my favorite, Distinguished Engineer. (A little more on Andy and link to his personal website in our pre-webinar briefing notes)

Navigating the what

Andy started things off by explaining the concepts and technology. I’ve long ago given up trying to summarize the words experts like Andy use to explain the (almost) unexplainable. However every time I hear an articulate presenter I’m a little clearer so one day I may take on the challenge.

It is always reassuring to be reminded that even Einstein was not entirely comfortable with it all, describing quantum entanglement as:
