Quantum computing event on 1 December

Another silver lining of the current pandemic: the HBS Club of London is offering up a high quality webinar with free entry.

On 1 December John Thornhill, the Innovation Editor of the FT, will be talking with Ilana Wisby and Alex van Someren at 6:30pm UK time.

Ilana, with whom I had a great conversation early on my quantum computing journey in 2019, is the CEO of Oxford Quantum Circuits. Alex is the Managing Partner of Early Stage Funds at Amadeus.

Overview

INVESTING IN QUANTUM COMPUTING

Quantum computing is a technology that always seems five years away from living up to the hype. Quantum promises to free us from the limitations of classical computers.

It will drive major breakthroughs in drug development, battery design, weather forecasting, cybersecurity, financial modelling, and chemistry.

In late 2019 Google announced they had achieved quantum supremacy. But we still hear that major advances in hardware, software and theory are required before it can be used in practice.
