A Morning in August

The deep breathing of love

sunk in sleep and dream

against my left shoulder

her hand touching

The sunlight light bubbling

through the cracks of curtains

sneaking in uninvited

and yet introducing the day

I awake and pondering

chemical potentials of boson gases

and their fugacity and what it means

fiercely wanting to understand
