QuarkChain can accommodate the existing public chains and enable their functions on different shards
As one of the main features, the flexibility of QuarkChain network enables different shards to have different consensus mechanisms, transaction models, ledger models, and token economics. Relying on the root chain, shards can achieve interconnection.
How flexible can QuarkChain be?
For example, if a shard is set to the environment of the Ethereum, it can achieve almost the same functional characteristics as the Ethereum. ERC20 and the original DApps which run on the ETH network can run directly on this shard. This new ETH shard will become a new feature area on QuarkChain. Throughput and security can be guaranteed by the QuarkChain root chain, which is equivalent to completing an Ethereum upgrade by using QuarkChain.
If QuarkChain sharding design adds some new functional elements, such as adding privacy token shards and DPoS shards, by using multi-native tokens and cross-shard transactions, tokens can flow among different shards. The tokens circulating to different shards will have the function and form of shards. For example, the combination of DPoS mechanism and ETH virtual machine can make a shard that can confirm the transaction within a second. When users play the game on it, they do not have to wait for 15 seconds to get blocks. Also, all transactions are on the chain, users can play the game more quickly and safely.
By adding new functions, the original functions and characteristics of the shards are not affected, and the whole network is equivalent to adding new functions. Just like in city planning, although industrial areas, residential areas, commercial areas, CBD and so on have been built, when a small new functional area is established, relying on transportation it means adding a new function to the whole city.
