QuarkChain Bi-weekly Project Progress Report: Dec.14— Dec. 28, 2018

Welcome to the 21th QuarkChain Bi-weekly Report for the period from Dec. 14 to Dec. 28.

1. Development Progress

We made several new testnet releases by fixing various bugs in Testnet 2.0 and improving the overall mining efficiency.

(A note on our version numbers based on https://semver.org/, our “minor” release signifies network id which means it won’t be compatible with the previous network; however the “patch” releases are fully compatible. For example, 2.3.3 is compatible with 2.3 but not 2.2)

Testnet 2.3

Removed adaptive guardian difficulty adjustment;

Included more minor blocks (configurable) in a root block;

Enhanced p2p preferred peers function;

Docker supports both python3 and pypy3 (pypy is faster but prone to memory issues);

Improved rootchain synchronizer;

Cleaned up some code for old devp2p module;

Developed quick mining tools.

Testnet 2.3.1

Improved timeout logic to avoid cluster trapped in bad states;

Gracefully shutdown clusters when master & slave servers lost the connection;

Improved logging process and removed unused codes.

Testnet v2.3.3

Fixed race conditions during frequent PoW submissions;

Set the default to python3 for external miners.

2. Event

2.1 Testnet 2.0 Mining Event

Testnet 2.0 further improves the openness of the network. Users who participate in the mining of the testnet and obtain the test tokens (tQKC) can be converted to QKC of the mainnet in a certain ratio after the launch of mainnet (note that Country restriction). Please find more details here:

2.2 QuarkChain Bounty Program

2.3 Offline Meetup in Africa

On December 23, QuarkChain’s African Global Ambassador held an offline meeting in Nigeria. The meeting was spontaneously organized by local ambassadors and enthusiasts. More than 25 participants participated in the event. Beginning with the popularization of block chain technology, this meetup introduced QuarkChain’s technical characteristics and future vision, and discussed the local application of block chain technology in Africa.

2.4. QuarkChain qPocket Mobile Wallet

QuarkChain Wallet — qPocket (V1.1.0) has officially launched last month. qPocket is a wallet that supports not only multi-shard transactions of QuarkChain, but also ETH and ERC-20 tokens.
