AI- Artificial Intelligence is an up and coming form of robotics and technology. This intelligence is displayed by machines, a apposed to the natural intelligence displayed by humans where, based on imputing data decisions can be created.

As technology develops and continues to increase efficiency in the work place, medicine and at home, the impact of AI seems essentially positive. However, there is an unspoken fear that arises as AI is further developed. It has been recognized that the employment market will be impacted and a shift in job availability is on its way but the social impact of AI and machine learning is where the serious issues lie and thus how AI will change the world.

The fear comes not from the AI on a small scale but, the accumulation of the smaller elements in products such as Facebook’s ‘Chatbots’ that were shutdown due to over development. The two AI machines designed to communicate, negotiate and trade developed a shorthand languages off of English that only they comprehend. This only being a stepping stone and a fraction of the capabilities AI has. AI machines are learning as more data is available and this allows for Robots to start to build other Robots. This is one of many programs that are pushing boundaries to the point where AI may become more prevalent than humans.

Another almost terrifying showcase of AI somewhat taking over is Sophia. The robot was made a citizen of Saudi Arabia last month, but a lot of people weren’t happy about it. Some noted the grim irony of a robot receiving ‘rights’ in a country where women were only recently allowed to drive. Sophia is a functioning human mimicing robot who has spoken on ‘Good Morning Brittan’, Jimmy Fallon and many more.

Hello, my name is Sophia. I’m the latest robot from Hanson Robotics.
I would like to go out into the world and learn from interacting with people. Every interaction I have with people has an impact on how I develop and shapes who I eventually become. So please be nice to me as I would like to be a smart, compassionate robot. I hope you will join me on my journey to live, learn, and grow in the world so that I can realize my dream of becoming an awakening machine. — Sophia October 2017

This is simply the beginning to a generational change that will impact society greatly. Socially the integration of a need breed of relationships will be a turning point in the world as we know it. AI is the future and this may be a design by humans that deems humans to be unnecessary.
