Co-living is a big deal right now. Buildings are popping up all over the world and its no surprise. Co-living is a simple concept at heart. It aims to bring together a like-minded community in an environment designed to make it flourish. In Quarters’ buildings this includes careful consideration over the balance between private and public space, as well as designing the large common areas we’re thinking hard about the laundry rooms and the hallways. Why are we doing this?

One word: Community.

Loneliness among Millenials is growing and this is a concern for us. With loneliness among Millenials on the rise, there’s an ever growing demand for purpose built communities that focus on providing easy access to both private and social spaces.

According to one study by the BBC, 16–24 year olds are the loneliest members of society, with 40% experiencing more frequent and more intense forms of loneliness than those at other stages in their lives. Why are we so lonely? Well, traditional models of living are thankfully becoming obsolete. This is something generations have worked for, expanding what family is was hard work. People are more mobile than ever, they’re enabled by technology to move freely, sometimes even around the world. Is loneliness an unavoidable side effect of the current era of nodal living and online working? We think not. Why be lonely when you can co-live?

The best thing about coliving is undoubtedly the people. Our community is made up of diverse, international, thoughtful, passionate people. We couldn’t be prouder that they met under Quarters’ roof. We can say we’ve started great businesses, friendships and even the odd relationship. This makes us proud. Fundamentally we believe that the loneliness issue can be solved and a better way to live can be created with a bit of hard work, elbow grease and careful consideration of who ends up next door to who.

So, the best thing about co-living isn’t that its cheaper, or that you get a huge living room, or even that your house is technologically advanced. The best part is that you move in and we’ve got you covered. We’ve got your furniture, your cooking stuff, we’ve even got your toilet paper. And most importantly, we’ve got your community. Drop off your bags, charge your devices and get out and meet people.

Our members repeatedly tell us that they chose coliving because they were looking for a community. At Quarters, we’re looking to build a community that combats loneliness. We want you to #liveyourpassion with us.
