Quasar Overview: Metamask support

On January 10, Quasar announced the integration of MetaMask with the help of Leap Snaps, allowing MetaMask users to interact with Cosmos DeFi applications such as Quasar without the need to install additional wallets. This integration simplifies the user experience by eliminating the need to adjust to new interfaces and learn how to use different wallets.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process of connecting MetaMask to Quasar for the first time.

Step 0: Understanding the Integration

The support for the Cosmos Ecosystem was made possible thanks to MetaMask Snaps, specifically Leap Snap. For a better understanding of how this integration works, you can refer to the following resources:

Step 1: Initiating Connection to Quasar

Assuming you already have MetaMask installed, navigate to app.quasar.fi and click on the “Connect Wallet” button in the upper right corner. Select MetaMask (Leap Snaps) from the options presented.

Step 2: Install and Connect

Upon selecting MetaMask, a familiar pop-up will appear. Here’s what you need to do:

• Click on “Confirm” to automatically install Leap Snap.
• Review and give permission for the actions Leap Snap requires. Once reviewed, click on “Confirm.”
• For first-time connections, you will also need to confirm your connection to app.quasar.fi.

Step 3: Review Your New Osmosis Address

After completing Step 2, your connection to app.quasar.fi will be established, creating a new Osmosis address for you. To check your address, click on “Wallet info” in the upper right corner.

Note that your Osmosis address, while different from EVM addresses, is derived from the same seed phrase imported into MetaMask. This address is exclusively yours; neither Quasar nor Leap has access to it.

With these steps, you are now ready to interact with Quasar vaults! Ensure you have some tokens for gas fees and assets on your Osmosis balance to deposit into Quasar vaults.
