How I Was Helped by the Light Beings
… and got an unhoped-for job
At one point in my life, I came to a very difficult financial situation. As a computer scientist, web developer, at 51, I didn’t have a lot of work except for a bit of freelancing. We were clearly going into personal bankruptcy.
In France, nobody wants a computer scientist over 45 years old. I had joined an association of unemployed executives and this allowed me to approach companies to find out their future recruitment needs. In this association, after some time, I learned by the fringe that the city was looking for a web developer.
I met an ancient member of this association who worked for this department. He told me what salary I could ask for.
I had soon the appointment with the head of department. Everything went well, he explained to me that they wanted to make an intranet web server where they would host all the office applications with some specific applications and so they needed my profile. I was in competition with another IT specialist who had a decisive advantage over me because he was already a civil servant. Eventually, his wife would not want to move to Pau and so I was hired.
