Poetry Is a Kind of Daydream

Often seeded by the gods

Poetry is a kind of daydream
for bold minds questing far

A journey down a winding river
sometimes peaceful, sometimes harsh.

Daydreams are a kind of poetry
often seeded by the gods

But never a fruit worth plucking
unless nourished by the heart.

Daydreaming is a gift we should never turn aside, especially when we hope to write poetry. Daydreaming helps us to discover the extraordinary in the ordinary, the pearl among the pebbles.
