The Outlier
Disillusioned

Once part of the group —
member, confidante, friend —
sharing, celebrating, comforting —
until what I needed
conflicted with
what they wanted.
Now, an outlier —
a displaced loner,
choosing well over ill,
choosing me over them,
solitary and solo,
enjoying the silence.
