How To Make Yourself An Unstoppable Force Of Nature

Robert Schuller once said that tough times never last, but tough people do. As much as that phrase may be true, we don’t want to simply survive hard times. We want to be an unstoppable train on the tracks of life where every single obstacle is swept away.

We want to build momentum and steamroll through the barriers on our tracks. Here is how we can do that.

Action Begets Action

There is no way around the lack of motivation. This will always happen at some point, usually at the most critical of times. To counter this, you simply must take action, but here’s the funny thing. Whenever you do take action, even a tiny just for a few minutes, you’ll start to notice a surge of energy and motivation.

It’s the thought that action begets action. Mark Manson, author, and writer calls this the “Do Something” principle.

You won’t become unstoppable by only thinking about things. Action in real-life is needed to gain momentum. But what do we need to take action on to become unstoppable? This is the second piece of the puzzle.

The Obstacle Is the Way

The wise and old Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius said the following:

“The impediment to action advances actions. What stands in the way becomes the way.”

When building up momentum, it’s not only necessary to do something, though that is the first step. The action we take has to be about something we are frightened to do. Actually, the best possible thing about the fear we feel is that it really shows us the way.

The one thing that you’re afraid of, and that you desperately want to ignore or dodge, is the thing you need to tackle in life. The obstacle which stands in front of you shows you the way forward.

This is how you build momentum.

What is worth remembering is that what stands in the way becomes the way. The only way around is through the problem.

Okay, so now we know that we need to take action and we know in which direction we need to take the action. The next question is how much?

“Compound effect is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it. He who doesn’t, pays it.” — Albert Einstein

Think Big, Act Small

Compounding is about taking small actions that generate massive results over time. It’s interest on interest. The way you can imagine the force generated by compounding is by imagining dominos.

You start with a small one and after it, you put one which is 50 percent bigger than the first one. After the second one, you put the one which is 50 percent bigger than the second one and so forth.

If you have placed them correctly, the push you made with your finger on the first, small domino, will be enough to push down the big domino at the end of the line.

It’s never about big actions that you take today which miraculously change the situation and make you unstoppable. It’s about doing small things every single day that compound into success and makes you an unstoppable force.

Now we know that we need to take action, we know the direction of it and the intensity of it. But the next question is way different from the previous one. It’s why we want to take action in the first place.

What’s the Purpose of Action?

You can be an unstoppable force and there is no question about it. But why do you want to be one? That is the real question behind it, the motivation and the purpose behind it is the one thing you need to examine.

Carl Jung once said that those who look outside, dream. But those who look inside, awaken. The point he was trying to make is that when you look outside of yourself, you simply dream as in, you wish for certain things to happen. And we all know this feeling.

It’s a “Nice-to-Have” feeling.

But it doesn’t stir our soul. It doesn’t move us even the slightest bit. It doesn’t make us jump from the bed and stand up from the couch. Because it’s outside of us.

The second part of the Jung quote is that those who look within, awaken. This means that the purpose and the motivation you desperately seek is not found outside, but inside. It’s found in you. The purpose to which you want to devote your life to is found within you. And only by awakening this inside can you find the right kind of motivation to become an unstoppable force of nature in the pursuit of your purpose.

But the things you find within you will rarely tell you in plain English what your purpose is. They will speak in symbols, myths, archetypes, and images.

But there is a way to interpret that and it’s the last question we will answer here.

What do the images and messages which you find within yourself mean and how can you use them to become an unstoppable force of nature?

“One who looks outside, dreams. One who looks inside, awakens.” — Carl Jung

The Alter Ego

It’s no accident that the best in the sports oftentimes have nicknames. Kobe Bryant was The Black Mamba because of his speed and dangerousness on the field. Allen Iverson was The Answer because his passes were answers to every single situation the opposition’s defense could muster. He had an answer to every situation on the field. Michael Jordan was Air Jordan because of his long jumps, Lou Gehrig was The Iron Horse because of his insane consecutive games played streak.

All of these people found images inside of them that showed them a part of their personality that they fully embraced on the field of play. And that is why they could perform at the top level. They were not Kobe Bryant, they were The Black Mamba: fast, deadly, and feared by everyone.

The Alter Ego which is found within you can help you become an unstoppable force of nature. But you have to embrace it, no matter how silly it might seem to other people. You don’t have to share this alter ego, but you need to know what it is and call it up when it matters.

When all hell breaks loose and you need to step up in your life to overcome the obstacles before you, be what they may. You can call forth the force of your Alter Ego to help you deal with the challenges and become unstoppable.

So dig deep down and find your Alter Ego. Call it forth when it matters and go through life like an unstoppable force of nature.
