Around the world In 365 Words Or Less
Our novels have become thinner, our sports have become quicker, our songs have become shorter, our views have gone twitter (a.k.a 280 characters or less) and basically our attention has become slimmer and slimmer. We are a group of passionate writers / readers who believe that opinions need to be shorter as well. So, we are kicking off this unique blogging voyage where we will try and limit ourselves to < 365 words in every blog — erm that brings us to 82, I mean 86 words! 😐
So, why 365? It’s a mixture of art and science. Our blogs needed to be short, but how short was the question. A popular research shows that on average people spend 2 minutes browsing every time they pick their phone at work. And another research says that average reading speed is about 200–250 words per minute. Accounting for distraction we are probably looking at 300–500 words. (Fun fact: It even takes you about 2 minutes to pee on average. So, we could have conveniently picked that as a reason.)
So, why not 300 or 350 or 400 or 500? And this is where the art comes in. Are you more likely to remember a blog that is less than 500 words or a blog that says we will have less than 365 words? I would say the latter, just because it is unique. Some of you might say, well 477 or 513 are much more unique. But the problem is, they are not familiar to the human brain. And that’s why the team settled with 365 which most people know is the number of days in a calendar year.
Already bored with the whole rationale behind the naming? Me too. So, let me finish this before I run out of my words. Our team is super excited to talk about business, philosophy, sports, marketing, relationships and life in general. This is a new and unique idea that we are exploring.
