How to: Track ITR Status, ITR Refund Status
Successfully filing Income Tax Return is a multi-stage process of which submitting and e-Verifying your Tax Return is the first step. Here’s how to track it once you’ve submitted your tax return
Tracking ITR Status
Two ways to track the status of your ITR on Income Tax e-Filing website
Without login(needs Acknowledgement number)
- Once you visit Income Tax e-Filing website, click on ITR Status in the left menu
- Enter details as applicable on the next page
If the details entered by you are correct, you’ll get a result on the next screen mentioning the status of your ITR — either “Return Submitted and Verified” or “ITR Processed”
Check Status by logging in to Income Tax e-Filing
- Once logged in to Income Tax e-Filing portal, click on View Returns/Forms
- On the next page, select the option Income Tax Returns from the drop-down menu and click submit to proceed
- On the next page, you’ll see the status of your ITR corresponding to the ITR you filed for the current Assessment Year
Tracking ITR Refund Status
ITR Refund status can be tracked on both Income Tax e-Filing website by logging in with your credentials and NDSL portal where no login is required.
It’s noticed in past the status on Income Tax e-Filing might be delayed, so for latest status, its recommended to check refund status on NSDL website. On Income Tax e-Filing, you’ll see the status of your refund by clicking on the acknowledgment number of the ITR filed.

- Visit NSDL Refund Status Page and enter PAN number and select the Assessment Year from the drop down. Fill in the Captcha code and submit
- Once you enter the correct details, you’ll be shown the status of your refund(if applicable) on the next page
