Update: Since the extended due date for DIR-3 KYC is already over — it was recently announced that the DINs that didn’t have DIR-3 KYC filed are now deactivated for non-compliance. The DIN’s can be re-activated by filing DIR-3 KYC for fee of Rs. 500 between September 21, 2018 — October 5, 2018. Missing these dates and filing DIR-3 KYC from 6th October, 2018 onwards will cost a fee of Rs. 5000.

Ministry of Corporate Affairs(MCA) announced in a notification that Individuals that have been allotted a DIN need to complete e-KYC(DIR-3-KYC) effective from 10th July, 2018

State and Central Government Officers have been authorized to deactivate the DINs that don’t have their DIR-3-KYC filed in stipulated time and will only be reactivated on DIR-3-KYC being filed with prescribed fee.

Individuals who’ve been allotted DIN as on March 31, 2018 need to have this DIR-3-KYC form certified by a practicing professional. It’s been also noted that Filing of DIR-3-KYC is mandatory for disqualified Directors as well.

A few points to note-

  • If DIR-3 KYC is filed before August 31, 2018, there’ll be no fees involved however after the date will be Rs. 5000(this has been updated).
  • Proof of permanent address is a mandatory document to be filed along with DIR-3 KYC. In case the Individual is an Indian Citizen, Aadhar will need to be attached as well.
  • DIR-3 KYC needs to be digitally signed with a DSC by both the individual and a Practicing professional(CA/CS/CMA)
