Wow. Just wow.

That was how I felt while reading Mark’s story, “Name This Title,” about his 24-hour getaway with his wife, Rhonda, to Lexington, Kentucky.

It brought a smile to my face and touched my heart as I lay in bed on a Friday night tired after a long week as a high school English teacher.

I got out of the Medium Fast Lane — you know what I’m talking about — and read Mark’s story slowly to savor every sentence and sentiment.

I even read it twice. It was that kind of story — it made me see things in my relationship with my wife because of some of the things Mark shared.

Here is the backstory to Mark’s story:

Your story said you have circumstances that prevent you and your wife from getting away alone together … mind if I ask what those are?

Rhonda and I have four kids. I always refer to them as healthy and grounded young adults, and each one is. However, our son Samual was born with Ulrich’s Muscular Dystrophy and he still lives at home with us. This is an incurable disease (to date) that affects muscle growth and development.

I am embarrassing according to teenage son. My jokes are terrible and I don't know when to stop annoying my son. I am the dad of an autistic son. A funny kid.
