Coming in Waves

The rippling, pre-dawn water
A silvery, cerulean blue
Thrusting towards the shore
Lapping at the sand
In a constant rhythm

Like the cadence of a beating heart
The curve of the wave
As it crests
Then crashes
Spent
Pulling back out into the deep

Followed by another
And another
A pulsing pattern
Of rising and falling
Of in and out

A body of water
Washing over me
