My Family is a Statistical Anomaly? An LGBTQ Parent Story

Apparently, we’re even weirder than I thought.

There I was, shuffling through my feed, consuming stories as the music blasted through my headphones.

I was having a great day, having fun commenting on different articles as they caught my attention. When a new notification came in, I figured it was someone clapping for one of my own works, or a new follower.

My stomach dropped as I read the comment from another writer. I took my headphones off and closed my useless eyes, trying to figure out how I should respond to such a thing.

It stunned me.

The original story was about someone’s experiences as a parent of an LGBTQ child. I mentioned the fact all of my own children are part of the community in one way or another. Their mom and I are, too.

I let it go at that with a smile, thinking it was good enough to stand on its own. Nothing more than stating a fact that, indeed, all of my kids have expressed they are LGBT.

“ALL your kids are LGBTQ? That would be such a statistical anomaly. Just saying.” — Dumb Prig
