A poem I wrote at the start of last month — July 2022 — then on the 5th, my dearest companion died at home, my nearly 19 year old cat. But he was more than that. He was a true friend, more “dog” than a dog.

Two days later — my mother passed too —

So this is a little poem in their memory. Tomorrow it will be a month that my mother died.

Age has caught up

My cat is hardly breathing

It will soon be time to go

But I can’t let go

I just can’t go

With the life-death flow.

My heart is braking

My mother’s last days are here

Her eyes when open

Look into a distant space

While peace is etched on her face

But I can’t let go

I Just can’t go

With the life-death flow.

My heart is braking

I want both to be young again

My dear kitty a kitten

My mom a feisty young woman

I hate old age

In fact I am in a rage

That age

Takes those that I love

To the skies above

But I can’t let go

I just can’t go

With the life-death flow.
