Hello Writers!

Here’s a quick tip to carry into 2023. Before submitting your story to a pub, be sure to carefully read and follow their submission guidelines page. This will increase your chances of getting your story published and will make the editor's job much easier.

Some pubs have their guidelines posted under a tab at the top of the pub’s page. Some will post them as the first stories on their page.

Here are five things to look for and follow:

1. What’s the theme of the pub and does your story align with it?

This is one of the biggest reasons we reject stories at The Memoirist and Age of Empathy. Take time to read the types of stories the pub accepts and check that your story falls under one of those categories before sending it.

2. Does your story need to stay within a specific read time?

Many pubs will reject a story that’s too short or too long. Most pubs would like your story to hit that…
