The title of her story, “Have I Fallen Out of Love with Writing?” got me.

And then the subtitle reeled me in.

“When the words no longer flow.”

I had a hunch about what stopped the flow of her words, and for me it wasn’t what most people would probably guess.

Writer’s block.

Nah, it was Medium, and the complicated, twisted, and addictive relationship we can all have with this social media platform.

That’s what zapped her love of writing in my opinion.

Why do you think writing has been a struggle for you lately?

When I first started on Medium, I had that shiny object syndrome. Everything felt so new and exciting — to receive comments on my stories and pay (even pennies) for my writing was amazing.

However, it started to wear off about nine months into my writing journey. The short answer to why writing has been a struggle is that life happened. I had so much going on in entrepreneur land that my writing had to take a backseat.

I am embarrassing according to teenage son. My jokes are terrible and I don't know when to stop annoying my son. I am the dad of an autistic son. A funny kid.
