With gas fees on Ethereum consistently high now, we know users are having a tough time paying for ETH based transactions. Whether you’re transferring an ERC20 token or executing a swap contract, no one wants pay more on the transaction than the actual transaction value itself.

So in our efforts to shift towards more onchain infrastructure and interactions, we’ve added to Quidli two tokens on Base, the OP Stack based Ethereum L2 blockchain being scaled by Coinbase — USDC and DEGEN.

About Base

Base, as mentioned above, is a Coinbase-led more readily accessible Ethereum L2 that enables developers to deploy any EVM codebase and onramp users and assets from Ethereum and other interoperable chains. It’s focus is on being secure, low-cost and builder-friendly in order to “bring the next billion users onchain.”

And due to being built on Optimism’s open-source OP Stack, Base is also committed to contributing to ensuring that the wider OP Stack itself continues to be available as a public good to everyone.

About USDC

Users may already know that USDC on Ethereum is already available on Quidli. For those unfamiliar, USDC is a USD-based stablecoin fully backed and redeemable 1–1 by US dollars, developed and managed by Circle.

USDC is currently one of the more popular choices for distributing token rewards on Quidli. And for a while now, users have asked for a non Ethereum based USDC option due to the blockchain’s increasingly high transaction fees. Accordingly, we’re finally introducing a second option with USDC on Base.

If you’re interested in accessing USDC from any other network on Quidli, drop us an email or DM to let us know!

About DEGEN

The second Base-based asset we’ve added is DEGEN, a token used for tipping between users on Warpcast, the largest client built on Farcaster, a decentralized social network protocol.

What started as a meme coin among community members in Degen, a DeFi focused channel in Warpcast, has rapidly become one of the hottest tokens so far this year. In its initial launch, 15% of the total supply was airdropped to active community members with plans to airdrop as much as 70% of the total supply. As such, we couldn’t miss this opportunity to add DEGEN when integrating Base to Quidli.

Are there other tokens on Base that you’d like to see added to Quidli? Drop us an email or DM to let us know!
