We’re introducing the RBTC token to our micro on-ramp ecosystem. Users can now share RBTC as rewards directly from your browsers, email, Slacks, and Discords via Quidli.

About RBTC

RBTC is bitcoin transferred to the Rootstock blockchain, which is designed to act as a Bitcoin sidechain that offers “Bitcoin-powered smart contracts.” RBTC, which can be transferred back to the` Bitcoin blockchain at any time, serves as the native token of Rootstock — to pay miners, execute transactions, engage in DeFi, etc.

Rootstock is among the earliest of projects to build and experiment on top of Bitcoin, and its development is entirely community owned and led.

About Rootstock

Launched in 2018 led by IOV Labs, Rootstock provides the foundation for a new global economy via smart contracts on Bitcoin. As a Layer 2, it expands functionality and scalability of Bitcoin without sacrificing decentralization or security.

Rootstock builds on the Bitcoin network through merge-mining technology. All smart contracts on the network are EVM compatible, combining the programmability of Ethereum with the security and stability of Bitcoin.

Rootstock x Quidli

We’re excited to integrate Rootstock and to the entire RSK DeFi ecosystem via wider distribution of RBTC. Following the internal roll-out of Quidli on Slack for the IOV Labs team who support the development of Rootstock, we’re now pleased to release RBTC for general usage on Quidli as well.

On the integration, Rootstock co-founder Diego Gutierrez Zaldivar said:

Quidli’s addition of RBTC is an amazing opportunity for new users to easily send small amounts of bitcoin to friends and family. It also has the added benefit of enabling them to interact with the Rootstock DeFi ecosystem. By receiving RBTC through browsers, email, Slack, or Discord, a user can try out decentralized financial services like swapping their RBTC for other assets on Sovryn, lending and borrowing with Tropykus, or getting stablecoins like DOC and RDoC which are powered by the MoneyOnChain protocol.

On the Quidli side, we look forward to building beyond this initial integration and more fully leveraging Rootstock as transaction volumes and demands grow.
