Since relaunching as crypto wallets for groups to easily manage and share tokens internally, we’re seeing increasing interests in and adoption of using crypto as micro-incentives by users, which today include globally distributed teams, online communities, and even personal groups. Accordingly, given all users have different aims and intentions, we thought it can be useful to highlight some of the interesting ways Quidli is used today.

Crypto as incentives

As a brief summary, we positioned the initial build of Quidli as a web app for you to create groups, invite members, and share Bitcoin as bonuses and rewards in place of “traditional” perks such as arbitrary virtual points (no value) or gift cards (limited value). We then saw that remote teams in particular found the app useful for recognizing team members around the world with real value that didn’t require localization.

The app has since evolved into a cross-platform design that enables you to share various crypto (for example, Ether, ada, Dogecoin) as micro-incentives from apps you use to work and collaborate with others online. For example, our first foray into this direction, a Slack integration to acknowledge and or tip colleagues directly in your workspace conversations, has resulted in 5x more sharing among users.

Web app usage

Share crypto as bounties to contributors who add value to your mission and objectives, like driving site traffic

Among web app users, we’ve primarily seen two use cases: 1. Bounty rewards for team and or community members who contribute to group success via their actions; and 2. tipping of freelancers, who tend to work on payment-on-completion bases, to support/motivate them towards success.

For users who manage projects that are passion and or community driven, their primary focuses tend to be on motivating engagement and participation from members that don’t neatly fit into payroll or big budget situations. As a result, we’ve seen them leverage the flexibility that crypto provides (digital & cross border) to offer as bounties to members based on certain actions and or contributions that help drive their respective missions, such as sharing associated content on social media.

Similarly, users who work often with freelancers, are using crypto incentives to share as tips and for recognition for their temporary team members that are instant and can be sent efficiently in small amounts. While payments tend to be made upon project completion, you can still tip your freelancers, who’re hard at work, for coffees and or supplies as motivation along the way.

Slack app usage

From the Quidli Slack integration, users can acknowledge colleagues directly from and in their workspace(s)

After receiving multiple requests for a Slack integration, we released the Quidli Slack app which enables you to sync your account with Slack and then tip and reward colleagues in crypto directly from and in your workspace. Users who find this integration useful have told us they prefer the option to share their recognition and acknowledgement of team members publicly in order to encourage good practices and behaviors via rewards that lead to “virtuous cycles” within their teams and team members.

As work and collaboration are increasingly online and decentralized, users who depend on tools like Slack seem to intuitively understand that introducing a layer of micro-incentive to their workflows can help drive better engagement and stronger work cultures. And in order to build the necessary feedback loops, crypto can serve as a universal form of value that can be deployed anywhere and used by anyone with little-to-no localization.
