This is the first part of a series on getting to know the Quo team. We’re a family here at Quo and we have a lot of passion for the products we build, so we wanted to share a little bit of that and help you get to know our team!
Jade was one of our first Software engineers and has been instrumental in helping us implement an amazing user experience.
What were you up to before Quo? How did you join?
Before Quo I interned at a couple places during my college summers and each job looked for a smaller and smaller company size. When I heard about Quo through a friend, I was super excited to be a part of a then 4 person team. After meeting with Tucker and Neel I was sold on their mission of helping people with financial stability as this issue disproportionately affects women and minorities. Empowering people to save and learn how to be money smart is a building block for independence.
What makes you passionate about personal finance?
When I graduated college with no credit history, I realized looking around at my friends that I had some room to grow. After a personal experience with bank charges because of fine print rules, I wanted to do something to shake up the system. Tucker and Neel were already on the path to building a great product and I’m so excited to be part of the team that is going to support people to be financially healthy.
What do you like most about being a software engineer? What have been your favorite things to work on?
My favorite thing about being a software engineer at Quo is how collaborative it is. When any of us gets stuck on a problem we know that we can always phone a friend and talk trough it together.I also love understanding why something isn’t working and learn about how to fix it. Working at Quo, I’ve gotten to try out a bit of everything. Through this opportunity, I’ve realized that frontend engineering is a specific kind of puzzle that I really love solving.
What do you want to see next in the Quo app?
I’m really excited to see financial goals in the next version of the app. I think that setting goals around money can be really helpful to plan out that next vacation or to saving for a rainy day fund.
What are some of your favorite things to do in your free time?
Growing up in Colorado, I enjoy getting outside whenever I can whether it be biking, hiking or climbing. When I’m not outside, you can find me reading about how to train a puppy or about how to be a better ally to minority groups.
My family dog Elwood and my personal dog Shasta are some of my favorite animals in the world ❤
